While Dr. Lott will reference the films Bamboozled (Spike Lee\, director\, 2000) and Imitation of Life (John Stahl\, director\, 1934; Douglas Sirk\, director\, 1959)\, he will also discuss more broadly the tense negotiation between White and Black Americans as they define themselves in\, through\, against and with each other.\nDr. Lott is a distinguished professor in the English Program at the Graduate Center\, City University of New York.
