To meet the growing nationwide demand for competent and compassionate mental health counselors, beginning with the fall 2023 semester students can enroll in a masters program that is new to Le 91心頭利嫋. The two-year Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling (MSCMHC) program was originally offered at Cazenovia College and transitioned to Le 91心頭利嫋 when Cazenovia permanently closed its doors in June 2023.

The MSCMHC program features a 60-credit curriculum where students will explore values, perceptions, cultures, techniques and interventions for prevention and treatment of a broad range of mental health issues, and explore behaviors of clients from a variety of backgrounds and developmental stages.

This is a perfect fit for Le 91心頭利嫋s mission ofmeetingan important need in todays society in a way that respects the dignity of all individuals, said Margaret Wells, Ph.D., dean of the Purcell School of Professional Studies. In addition to a curriculum delivered in an inclusive learning environment, students will have a first-hand clinical experience that will prepare them to become competent and caring mental health counselors while also enhancing student appreciation of the human condition.

She credited Associate Provost Mary Collins for her work with the New York State Education Department in coordinating a site visit and getting final approval for the program to be offered at Le 91心頭利嫋.
